Metropole Arrangements

Over the years I have done several arrangements for the Metropole Orkest in the Netherlands. They are right up my alley, a big band with strings! I wish I lived over there as I have a run of shows with them the next 3 weeks and would love to hear them play my arrangements.

Last week was a program of James Bond music. I had a lot of fun getting into John Barry’s head, it is not jazz, it is not rock, it is not classical, the harmonic language is so unique. It might not seem to now as he has been knocked of so much, but what he came up with is genius.

Friday 30th is a program of film music and Jules Buckley, their director, asked me to tackle Bohemian Rhapsody. For this concert they beefed up to a full orchestra with choir.

April 6-8 see them with sax player Donny McCaslin. Donny is amazing and was part of the band that played on Bowie’s last album. I even got to arrange one of those songs for this concert. Info on the concert can be found here https://www.mo.nl/en/agenda/2019-en/future-of-jazz-mo-invites-donny-mccaslin
