Holland, starring Nicole Kidman, Tom from Succession, and Rodrigo from Mozart in the Jungle, and directed by Mimi Cave, is out on Amazon! I had the pleasure of writing some additional music for Alex Somer's awesome score, performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra and expertly orchestrated by my mate James McWilliam. Thanks to Anton Monsted, Marcus Tamkin, and Celeste Chada for bringing me on, Jason Ruder for keeping us all organized, and to Alex for trusting me with his themes. Check out this musical excerpt:

Part 2 This is the second half of my discussion of the piece I recorded with Hollywood Scoring, where we look at the melodic section of the piece from bar 32 onward. Be sure to check out Part 1 so everything here makes sense. Main Theme I recently bought a new piano and walk past it on every trip to the kitchen. I remember as soon as I got confirmation that this session was happening, I was on my way to make some vegemite on…

Happy Halloween! Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities recently released on Netflix. This horror anthology features eight episodes written and directed by del Toro or other collaborators, and each was scored by a unique composer as well. I was happy to be asked to score the first episode, "Lot 36," and had some fun returning to the horror genre with del Toro – one of our earliest projects together was for some additional music on Crimson Peak. This episode is all about a mystery…

Okay, I'm quite pleased about this one. A little while back I was contacted by Peter Morris, Assosciate Professor and Head of Ensembles at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, my old stomping grounds. Peter has put together a number of programs of live-to-picture scores, and he was wondering if we might create some kind of suite from Maya and the Three to include on the program of this year's concert: FilmHarmonic 2022. I was happy to go along, and so that kicked off a series…

At long, long last, my score to Trollhunters has gotten a soundtrack release! There have been a few points in the past several years where I thought this was going to happen, but I'm happy to be able to announce that it finally has. It's actually a jam-packed release featuring tracks from not just my score to the original Trollhunters, but also music from the other series set in the same universe (3Below and Wizards), with tracks from Alexandre Desplat, Jeff Danna, and The Crystal…

It's almost here! I spent a good chunk of the past year writing the music for Jorge Gutierrez's new Netflix limited series, Maya and the Three. Jorge and I first worked together almost seven years ago, when I was brought in to adapt and arrange Gustavo Santaolalla's music for the score to The Book of Life. The three warriors of prophecy were reunited for this show, as Gustavo wrote a suite of beautiful music inspired by Jorge's world, which I then used as a starting…

My favorite character to write for in Trollhunters is Angor Rot. He is all bad and angry all the time, so that is what I did with the music. Here is a little suite I put together of some of my favorite Angor Rot cues.
